SURGERY HOURS
Monday – Friday 9:00am – 1pm and 3:00pm – 6:00pm by appointment.
APPOINTMENTS
To avoid long waiting times, the Doctors consult by appointment. Please phone 9311 2525 to make an appointment. If you cannot keep an appointment please contact us as soon as possible so your time can be given to another patient.
AFTER HOURS
Please phone 8724 6300 and a doctor will visit you at home as soon as possible. For urgent medical conditions please call an ambulance on 000 or proceed to the Emergency Department at Prince of Wales Hospital or Sydney Children’s Hospital.
ACCIDENTS AND EMERGENCY
Telephone the surgery first and you will then be advised of the most suitable course of action. In matters of extreme urgency phone 000 or proceed to Emergency Department at Prince of Wales Hospital or Sydney Children’s Hospital.
MINOR OPERATIONS
Cryotherapy for some skin lesions may be performed in the surgery. For more extensive skin checks patients are referred to specialist dermatologists, surgeons or skin cancer doctors as required.
HOME VISITS
Home visits can be arranged for existing patients if you are ill and cannot absolutely attend the surgery. Please contact the surgery on 9311 2525 if you require a home visit. Depending on the urgency these will be arranged as soon as possible. These are not generally bulk billed.
PARKING
Ample parking is provided on the street.
DISABLED ACCESS
A motorized chair is available which assists the elderly and disabled to gain access to the surgery without walking upstairs.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
In the interest of good medical care the doctor will normally need to see you for a repeat prescription. The receptionist will always need to check with the doctor whether it will be available without you needing to see the doctor.
TEST RESULTS
These will generally be given in consultation, that being the preferred option. However, where phone requests are appropriate you will be advised on the best time to call when the test is carried out.
STERILISATION
Our centre is cleaned professionally on a daily basis. All needles and syringes are single use only and then disposed of as clinical waste. All instruments used are professionally sterilised under the strictest controls or are single use disposables.
FEES
All existing General Practice patients are generally bulk-billed. Where financial hardship is of concern, in relation to medical costs, patients are asked to discuss this with the attending doctor so relevant arrangements can be made.
COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the centre please let us know. We are always looking for ways to improve the efficiency of the practice.
TELEPHONE ETHICAL CODE
As you are aware, interruptions during the course of a consultation can be very distracting for both doctor and patient. Most queries are best dealt with by consultation, but if appropriate your doctor will discuss a telephone query with you.
If the doctor concerned is consulting your call will be returned as soon as the doctor is free.
Emergency situations of course are an exception, and if you feel you have a serious problem that requires immediate attention, please do not hesitate to call. One of the staff will speak with the doctor or the ambulance service if necessary.
PRACTICE ETHICAL CODE
This practice is committed to providing comprehensive General Practice care to all individuals and families in this community. All patient consultations and medical records are kept strictly confidential at all times.
